Between Crisis and Transition: for a Comprehensive Approach to Social Transformations
From 9 to 11 October 2024, the annual international ERIS conference took place in Lille, France. The key theme was "Between crisis and transition: for a comprehensive approach to societal transformations". This unique event was one of four conferences organised by the Catholic University of Lille under the auspices of the international scientific conference ECOPOSS with the unifying theme "Between Preservation and Transformation, reinventing our world". It brought together different scientists and partners to discuss major digital, geopolitical, social, and environmental challenges of our time. The conference was attended by experts from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Spain, Czech Republic, and others.
During the conference we could hear contributions offering interdisciplinary perspectives on societal transformations that combine different types of knowledge. Speakers presented papers on social change and social vulnerability, and on their promotion. The topics of migration and diversity, including education, and employment in the face of social change were also an integral part of the conference papers.
The conference offered rich cultural and social side events. They brought not only interesting contributions and inspirations from abroad, but also the opportunity to network with other partners with a shared interest in the subject.
